IoTeX’s ioPay Wallet Now Supports WiFi Map’s $WIFI Token

ioPay is happy to announce the support of WiFi Map’s $WIFI token in its quest to serve as the DePIN (decentralized physical infrastructure network) wallet of choice. WiFi Map is one of the largest DePIN projects and a proud partner of IoTeX and ioPay. What is WiFi Map?
WiFi Map’s goal is to connect the unconnected. Via a beautifully designed mobile app, they accomplish this goal by asking contributors to add public and private WiFi hotspots to their network. When a hotspot is added to the network, its location, name, and password (if any) are recorded. This registers the hotspot on the “map” and then allows anyone with the WiFi Map app to connect to that WiFi hotspot with just a single click. WiFi Map also provides global eSIM connectivity and VPN services in-app.
WiFi Map has been building since 2014 and started out as a purely Web2 company (no crypto or blockchain elements at all). The team has seen lots of success and adoption since then:

In March of 2023, WiFi Map saw the value in a token-incentivized model and launched $WIFI on Polygon. The token is used primarily to incentivize contributors to add WiFi hotspots to the map, run speed tests, and refresh old passwords but can also be used to purchase in-app services like eSIMs and VPNs.
How to add $WIFI to your ioPay wallet?
Step 1) Log into your ioPay wallet and change the network from IoTeX to Polygon in the top left of the screen.
Step 2) Press the + button to the right of "Token" to see the list of supported tokens you can add
Step 3) If you don’t see it immediately in the pre-populated list of tokens, search “WIFI”
Step 4) Click the small + button on the far right of the “WiFi Map” token row. Once the + changes to a checkmark, press the back arrow in the top left of the screen. You will now see $WIFI appear in your ioPay wallet!
